Stress is classified into two types. Acute(short term) and chronic(long term).Acute stress is experienced by  the people when they deal  with dangerous and life threatening situations or events .Immediate response by the body to such events  includes the release of hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol which increases the blood pressure ,heart rate and respiration. Stress created by situations like heavy traffic, deadlines of work, credit card statements etc which are not life threatening are referred to as chronic stress.<br />
