Many people, around 90%, visit primary health care providers due to stress-related problems. Adverse effects of stress are experienced by 50% of adults. About 1 million Americans lose job because of stress related problems. Work place violence and homicide has also been a cause to stress.There are many situations which increase the rate of stress like death of a child, cases of divorce, illness, move or change of job etc. But all of us have the withstand most of the stressful situations by changing our attitude and the way we responds to them. If we try controlling all the things around as(we might fail regularly),the chances of stress are high. Its better to understand that what all situations we can deal with and to live with it.Considering the whole thing in a easy manner or cool way helps you to get out from the condition of “being stressed” .
Stress is classified into two types. Acute(short term) and chronic(long term).Acute stress is experienced by the people when they deal with dangerous and life threatening situations or events .Immediate response by the body to such events includes the release of hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol which increases the blood pressure ,heart rate and respiration. Stress created by situations like heavy traffic, deadlines of work, credit card statements etc which are not life threatening are referred to as chronic stress.
There are many steps to reduce stress in our life. Some of them are like to determine the cause of stress, to keep a diary, by strengthening the support system, to be open up, by simplifying your life etc.
