The drug addiction should be regarded as disease and they should be treated medically . in dealing with drug addiction problem of treatment and care , the addicts may be classified into three categories the first category consists of addicts who are easily recover by treatment . the second category includes those addicts who acquired the habit as result of treatment for illness . the third category , the addicts suffering from pathological character and which is an extreme case , less chance to cure.

The treatment for drug addiction includes three phases preparatory, withdrawal and rehabilitation phase.

Preparatory phase

In this phase the appraisement of drug used .after this the plan of treatment prepared .in this stage the doctor make a discussion with the addicted person , so that his anxiety may be removed . he may get a good feel , and hope which is important in treatment.

Withdrawal phase

It includes two other phases , gradual and abrupt. The gradual withdrawal takes periods of weeks or months. The abrupt withdrawal phase includes abrupt termination of narcotics by supportive surgery.

Rehabilitation phase

It is the phase started immediately after the first phase. In this stage the addicted person capable of facing normal stresses without taking drugs. In this period the person get moral support from the doctor.

The most important steps I the treatment of alcoholism are fro the alcoholic to accept his or her addiction , to want to stop drinking. Treatments are not effective without the corporation of addicted person. Some alcoholics are cured by medical treatment . some other respond well to self help orgnisations such as alcoholics anonymous. A social method of treatment. The most common type is aversion therapy. In this treatment the patient is giver a drink of whisky and then an injected apomorphine . then the person start vomiting and nausea. By this way a strong association is built up between the drinking and vomiting. Finally the victim say good bye to drink. The recovery period varied from 6 months to 1 year depends on persons character.

Driving and drinking not go together

Alcohol affects the judgment . it distorted the judgment of the person. The coordination of limbs , head and eyes are affected by drinking . so the driver may lose his control over vehicle. The behaviour of a person changed by alcohol . after drinking he tend to speed and take risks. Alcohol will affect the brain , so reaction time increases , the driver lose the control over vehicle when unexpected situations happened.

Drinking alcohol is a popular social custom in countries all over the world. In moderate quantities alcohol makes realities more pleasurable to many people. It also minimizes the tension in the everyday life. The production of alcohol by fermentation technique .carbohydrates are fermented by yeast. The alcohol getting by this method have low content of alcohol. For producing superior quality drinks like brandy, whisky , gin are made by distillation. Alcohol is suddenly absorbed from the stomach .a liver enzyme alcoholic dehydrogenase converts alcohol into acetaldehyde .the acetaldehyde is then oxidized to water and carbon dioxide releasing some amount of energy. Alcohlism may cause addiction to the man .the victims are known as alcoholists. Alcohol affects the thinking ability , speech ,movements, reflexes etc. in extreme condition it cause blurred vision , loss of body balance ,vomiting, head ache, nausea etc.
