After 25 years of research and analysis, a team of American scientists and psychiatrists has finally concluded that diabetic patients are twice as likely as non-diabetics to suffer from depression. Diabetes is disease leading to metabolic complications, which is characterized by raised blood sugar levels. The primary cause of this disorder is the inability of human body to burn or breakdown sugar to produce energy due to lack of insulin, vitamins or minerals. Because sugar cannot be burnt to give energy the body keeps demanding for more food consumption of which further increases the level of blood sugar and hence this forms a vicious cycle. Hence a diabetic patient feels persistent hunger. This condition of excessive thirst, urination and hunger are called polydipsia, polyuria and polyphagia or the polys of diabetes.

Doctors have long believed and assumed that diabetes can bring on depression because of the difficulties it causes in the lives of sufferers. Emotional eating further worsens the condition. Fatigue accompanied with diabetes leads to inactivity and inactivity and overeating may lead to depression. Diabetics who are depressed should seek treatment for both maladies according to researchers. The symptoms of diabetes are sometimes superimposed with the symptoms of its complications. For instance there could be symptoms of heart, kidney, eye, brain or nerve disease, which could come alongside the symptoms of diabetes. More and more people are becoming affected by diabetes every year. There is no need to get depressed once you are diagnosed with diabetes.

There are millions of people who lead a normal lifestyle even though they are diabetic. A change in lifestyle, improvement in diet, proper exercise and rest habits, avoiding smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol and the use of appropriate medication under the guidance of a diabetologist and early identification of symptoms of depression can go a long way in keeping you healthy and happy.

Regularly check your blood glucose level . consult your doctor regularly for his valuable advice. Take the regular doses of insulin , if it is prescribed by a registered medical practitioner. Should take the regular exercise ,according to your body fitness. Regular exercises will help you to reduce blood glucose level. However the diabetic patients should avoid the severe exercises, which may leads to cardiac disorders. If your glucose level falls after the exercise then you should take the fruit juices and similar drinks , these are help you to regains your blood glucose level.the main symptom of diabetes is weight loss. Hence take available measures of carb control . if your are suffering with any other disease other than diabetes then change your diabetic medicine after consulting your doctor. Immediately consult your doctor if you feel any abnormality in body. Take enough amount of foods even if your are not in hunger. Even though diabetic is come under the category of chronic diseases , it doesn’t means you will have to completely avoid the activities, but you take the precautions.

Continuous care is very much important in the case of diabetic patients,Its not a difficult procedure.Just do what your doctor says,give proper check ups as your doctor says clarify your doubts.Take your tablets,Insulin,proper diet,exercise etc are very much important for a diabetic patient.Intake of Sugar must be prevented.Blood pressure and Cholesterol are comrades of Diabetes ,so you might need to take medications for that too.But never stop your medication until your doctor says.Its a fact that Insulin is the better remedy for diabetes so have your insulin injections at the right time.

Having a regular and proper diet is very much important,Do what your dietitian says.Diabetic patients are not likely to have much  food materials containing much fat and sugar.You should have control over sugar,oil,Dry Fruits,Alcohol,Yellow of Egg,Fried foods,Beef,goat meat etc.Intake of vegetables must be increased,wheat and pulses must be promoted.Vegetable salad along with your meals helps a lot as it may reduce your appetite preventing the glucose level in increasing.Its a fact that Diet of a diabetic patient is the best diet one is supposed to have!
