Hazardous Cosmetics and their Side effects

Some cosmetics can be irritating to skin because of the way they are formulated. Alcohol based solutions can be drying and cause irritation and chapping. Facial scrubs can be very irritating and can worsen dry skin or eczema. Allergy to ingredients is common. The most common lipstick allergy is the use of lipsticks containing cinnamic aldehyde. Always pay attention to warnings and health issues by researchers and scientists. According to some researches and studies in Germany, Japan and United states some contents of skin creams, conditioners and shampoos may be linked to premature baldness, eye damage, contact dermatitis, cataract formation, and certain cancers e.t.c.


These effects are much more severe in young children. Study shows that some of the ingredients are highly toxic and may even be carcinogens and endocrine hormonal disrupters. Potato starch used in dusting powders and other beauty products may cause continuous sneezing, breathing difficulties, stuffy nose and other allergic reactions. Cheilitis found in lipsticks are found to cause lip dermatitis and other reactions. Latex in beauty masks may cause skin rash. Certain people are allergic to mustard oil found in some soaps and creams and it may even cause blisters. Spearmint oil, which is used in perfumes and perfumed cosmetics, is also a potential allergen. Canola oil found in creams and mudpacks may cause acne –like skin eruptions. There are more such ingredients that can be noxious to some the most common of which is Ammonium hydroxide used in protective creams, hair dyes, and hair straightners, also found in detergents and stain removers. its major effect is that it may cause allergic reactions and hair breakage.
