Some good tips for Body Care and Skin Care

By admin | January 3, 2010

  • The concept of ‘If a little is good, a lot is better does not apply to essential oils. Use a dropper. For a bath, place 5 to 6 drops of the essential oil of your choice into the tub.
  • Stir the essential oil into a cup containing two tablespoons of whole milk and pour the emulsion into the tub. To decrease stress, add lavender, rosemary or sage essential oil to base oil like almond or avocado, and massage.
  • Always use the high quality essential oil from a reputed company.
  • Never apply neat essential oil on the skin, except for lavender and tea tree oil.
  • Consult a doctor if you are pregnant, epileptic or have high blood pressure.
  • Quality essential oil usually comes in dark glass bottles with droppers.
  • Proceed with inhalations cautiously if you have asthma or are prone to nose bleeds
  • Do not use the same essential oil over a long period of time. Most last for a year or two, if kept in a dark bottle in a cool place.
  • Blended oils with carrier oils should be used up within 1 to 2 months as the therapeutic value starts to reduce.

Salons and chakras for body care -Aromatherapy

By admin |

salons today also have the ability to offer face and body care, with the help of colored clay. The kind of clay used has a lot to do with the season or the persons body type. For example, salons may offer a regeneration treatment with green clay in spring, or red clay for aching legs in summer. Yellow clay is used for detoxification and purification, while grey moisturizes the skin in winter.

Next the chakras- an important aspect of the massage technique. There are seven major energy points in our bodies, each with a field of energy and changes on the body. The first point located at the base of the spine is linked with basic survival and adrenal glands: second lies about an inch down from navel and is linked with sexuality; family life, harmony ,tolerance and the reproductive system: the third point situated between the navel and base of the sternum is linked with the pancreas and solar plexus ; fourth is associated with the heart and immune system ; the fifth , at the base of the throat , is associated with the thyroid gland: the sixth, lying above and between the eyes, is associated with the pituitary gland; and, finally, the seventh point, at the top of the skull, is associated with elevated spiritual consciousness the pineal gland.

Sounds confusing? It isn’t really. All you need is a nice talk with your aromatherapist and a basic understanding of the process at work while the oils do what they do best.

Long distance travel may sound exciting, if only for those who are not actually doing the traveling. After all, travelers have something in common with those who are desk bound for hours- stress, from neck all the way down the back, which is where aromatherapy comes in. It’s the kind of thing that makes people say, it’s relaxing, takes away the stress of a long travel, and ‘it makes me feel pretty’.

Aromatherapy is a gentle and powerful healing treatment. It uses pure essential oils- found in different parts of plants- that positively affect our physical, emotional and mental health. These oils are made up of between 50 to 500 different chemicals that occur in nature. Certified aromatherapists usually advised a combination of massage and inhalation. For the former, a good quality carrier oil, lotion, cream or salve is used to deliver the essential oils to the areas where they are most required. For inhalation, a simmering pot, diffuser, hot tub, sauna or common cotton ball is used.

Essential oils enter our body through the skin or by smell. Molecules in the scent released by the oils are get into the blood stream either through the skin during a massage or by inhalation through the nose and lungs. To quit smoking or raise oestrogen levels in postmenopausal women for instance, medication is introduced into the body through the skin. With the help of a massage, essential oils take about half an hour to be absorbed. As for smell, its psychological changes have been well researched. Our sense of smell has, by reflex action an enormous change on the central nervous system.
