Vitamin C is considered as one of the most important element to keep away diseases. It improves ones eyesight and it also controls the growth of cancer cells. It also boosts the emotional state of shortly hospitalized patients. Vitamin C is also called as ascorbic acid. It’s water soluble and found in almost all fresh fruits and green vegetables. An ordinary person should consume 60 mg of vitamin C each day (that is they should drink ¾ cup of orange juice).For smokers the quantity is little high. They should take 100mg of vitamin C each day. Vitamin C when combined with iron makes it more absorbable thus increase it’s intake. Vitamin C also performs immunity functions like protection against bacteria, viruses and infection. It can also function as an active antihistamine that will lessen the effects of cold, stuffy nose, inflammation and aches. Vitamin C also strengthens our bones and teeth. Vitamin C can also help in lowering the lead content in blood. This is important especially for children living in urban area because increased concentration of lead level in blood may cause behavioural and developmental problems. It can also lead to learning disabilities and lowered IQ. Vitamin C also helps in proper dilation of blood.
